SULTAN, WA (via wtvr.com) – April 29, 2016 — An 80-year-old Washington State woman shot and killed a 25-year-old man who had broken into her house and was stabbing her 75-year-old husband Thursday night, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said.
The woman called 911 at about 8:30 p.m. from the home in the 13700 block of Woods Lake Road and said “she had shot an intruder after he broke into her home and stabbed her husband,” Ireton said.
Police arrived to find the 25-year-old home invader dead on arrival.
The woman and the couple’s 45-year-old son, who was also in the home at the time of the incident, did not sustain any injuries.
As Sheriff’s department spokeswoman Shari Ireton told reporters:
“Suspect enters the house, stabs the male resident of the house, a 75-year-old male. The wife arms herself, shoots the suspect, a 25-year-old man. The male resident of the home, the 75-year-old male, was transported to Harborview [Medical Center]. He was airlifted with stab wounds.
The 25-year-old suspect was deceased on arrival. At this time, detectives do not believe the suspect was known to the residents of the home and that this was an attempted home burglary,” Ireton said.
The woman’s husband is now in stable but serious condition.
