Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2, 2026

Who we are

411 Press is an independent national news publication covering labor, industrial safety, and workplace accountability. The site is operated at 411press.com. This policy explains what reader data the site handles and what it does not.

What we collect

Newsletter email address

If you subscribe to the 411 Press newsletter, the site stores the email address you provide. That address is used to send the newsletter and nothing else. Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link.

Server logs

Standard web hosting access logs are generated when any site is visited. These include IP address, request time, requested URL, response status, and user-agent string. Logs are used for operational purposes — diagnosing errors, detecting abuse, keeping the site up — and are not used to build reader profiles or sold to anyone.

Analytics

411 Press uses Google Analytics 4 (Measurement ID G-YGELN9Y793) to understand how readers find and use the site. Google Analytics collects pseudonymous usage data: pages viewed, referring source, approximate geographic region (derived from IP address — Google does not expose the raw IP to this site), device and browser type, and on-site interaction events. This data is processed by Google LLC as a third-party analytics provider under Google's own privacy terms.

Google Analytics sets cookies — including _ga and _ga_* variants — to distinguish sessions and returning visitors. These cookies persist in your browser across visits. You can opt out:

  • Browser settings— block or delete cookies at any time through your browser's privacy controls.
  • Google's opt-out add-on — install the browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout to prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data across any site that uses it.
  • Do Not Track — the site honors browser Do Not Track signals where applicable.

The site does not use Meta Pixel or advertising trackers.

What we don't collect

411 Press does not run intake forms, case-evaluation forms, or eligibility quizzes. Beyond the newsletter email address, server logs, and analytics data described above, the site does not collect personal information from readers. The site does not sell personal data to anyone. It has no advertising business and no referral business. Google Analytics is used for audience measurement; beyond that, reader data is not shared with advertisers, data brokers, or law firms.

Cookies

The site uses two categories of cookies:

  • Essential cookies — required for basic site operation (session state, security). Blocking these may prevent some site features from working.
  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*) to distinguish sessions and returning visitors. These are not used for advertising.

No advertising cookies are set. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time, or use Google's opt-out add-on described in the Analytics section above.

Third-party services the site uses

The site runs on hosting and font-delivery services that necessarily see request traffic to operate. As of this policy's effective date, those are:

  • Vercel — application hosting. Receives the request traffic required to serve pages.
  • Google Fonts — delivers the typefaces used on the site. Receives the request needed to fetch font files.
  • Google Analytics (Google LLC)— audience measurement. Receives pseudonymous usage data as described in the Analytics section above: pages viewed, referrer, approximate geographic region, device and browser type, and on-site interaction events. Governed by Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

When a newsletter email-delivery service is connected, it will be named here before the first newsletter is sent.

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. 411 Press does not sell personal information. The categories of personal information the site collects from California residents are: newsletter email address (if subscribed), standard server log data (IP address, user-agent), and pseudonymous analytics data processed by Google Analytics as described above. To request access to or deletion of your information, email the contact address below.

EU and UK residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Readers in the EU and UK have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data held about them, and the right to object to or restrict processing. Newsletter email addresses are processed on the basis of consent given at signup. Google Analytics is used on the basis of legitimate interest in understanding site performance; you can opt out at any time using the controls described in the Analytics section above (browser settings or Google's opt-out add-on). Email the contact address below to exercise any other rights.

Children's privacy

411 Press is not directed at children under 13. The site does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes the site holds information about a child, email the contact address below and the record will be deleted.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Reasonable technical measures are in place to protect the small amount of reader data the site holds. No system is perfectly secure; the site cannot guarantee absolute security of stored data.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the site changes. Any update is posted on this page with a new effective date. The June 2, 2026 revision added Google Analytics 4 to the site and updated this policy accordingly. If future changes add new data collection — advertising, additional analytics services, or anything else — this policy will be updated to reflect what is collected and how to opt out.
