Lithium-ion battery recalls
Lithium-ion battery fires in consumer electronics have prompted a significant volume of CPSC enforcement activity. The agency has previously recalled power banks tied to a fatal fire and warned consumers to stop using heated insoles whose batteries ignited even when switched off, among other battery-powered devices. Battery cells that can ignite cannot be made safe through user precautions alone — the recall and replacement path is the only remedy.
Consumers can report an incident or injury at SaferProducts.gov.
