CPSC Warns Stop Using 53,500 Houswise Tabletop Fire Pits; Seven Burn Injuries Reported
The CPSC warned consumers July 16 to stop using 53,500 Houswise tabletop fire pits after seven injuries, including third-degree burns. Manufacturer Furmia LLC has not agreed to offer a remedy; consumers are directed to dispose of the products immediately.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission warned consumers on July 16 to stop using Houswise tabletop fire pits immediately, citing reports of flame jetting, fuel leaking outside the fire pit, and uncontrolled pool fires that have caused seven injuries, including third-degree burns.
About 53,500 units across four models — Vesper, Altair, Quad, and Astra — are covered by the warning. The products were sold at Houswise.com, Amazon.com, and Walmart.com beginning in March 2023.
The hazard
The fire pits burn alcohol fuel. The CPSC said using them can result in uncontrolled pool fires, where flames spread across the surface of pooled or spilled fuel, and flame jetting from fuel containers. Both hazards can cause serious or fatal burns.
The CPSC said it is aware of more than two dozen reports of flame jetting, fuel leaking, or unexpectedly high flames from these products.
No manufacturer remedy
The warning — which is distinct from a formal recall — was issued because Furmia LLC, the manufacturer of Houswise products, has not agreed to recall the fire pits or provide any consumer remedy.
The CPSC directed consumers to stop using the fire pits immediately and dispose of them. The agency said consumers should not sell or give away the products.
