CPSC Recalls 1.5 Million OCOOPA Rechargeable Hand Warmers After One Death and 350 Burn Injuries

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced July 30 that about 1.5 million OCOOPA rechargeable hand warmers are recalled because the batteries can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. One death and approximately 350 reports of burn injuries have been linked to the devices.

The recalled hand warmers were imported by Shenzhen Street Cat Technology Co., Ltd. and sold under the OCOOPA brand in seven models: UT3053, UT3056, ZLS-118, ZLS-118S, ZLS-118D, H01, and H01(PD). They were sold at Amazon.com, Ocoopa.com, Ocoopa.net, and Walmart.com from September 2018 through May 2026 at prices ranging from approximately $15 to $60.

Death and Injuries

An 83-year-old woman in San Diego died in February 2026 from injuries sustained when a recalled hand warmer caught fire while she was using it. The CPSC notice reports approximately 350 additional burn injury incidents involving the recalled models.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers should stop using the recalled hand warmers immediately. To receive a full refund, consumers should mark the device "RECALLED" in permanent marker, photograph the product with the model number and batch number visible, and submit the photograph through the recall portal at ocoopa.com/pages/product-recalls. Refunds are issued as an OCOOPA gift card or returned to the original form of payment.
